Home Page How To Select The Right Projector For Your Event Please feel free call us at 1-866-436-6411 for assistance in selecting the right projector for your presentation or event! Here is some basic helpful information to help you understand the terms and differences in the projector models available. LCD & DLP: LCD means "Liquid Crystal Display" and DLP mean "Digital Light Processing". These are different technologies that allow the projectors to project the computer image or video program. While experts in the industry debate the benefits of the two technologies in our opinion the LCD or DLP method of producing the image is not a critical factor in most general applications. The resolution which dictates the sharpness of the projected images (XGA or SVGA) and the brightness (lumens) of the projector are the most important factors in selecting the right projector for a specific application. Resolution: XGA or SVGA Resolution refers to the number of pixels (Picture Elements) used to assemble the image on the screen. The more pixels, the sharper the image. We strongly recommend XGA resolution projectors for all computer based presentations such as PowerPoint¨, Excel, or presentations containing a lot of text or detailed images and drawings. XGA provides 1024 pixels wide x 768 high. The budget minded SVGA projectors provides 800 x 600 pixels and can be appropriate choice when your presentation is being shown to a small audience and the the presentation does not include fine detail images or small text. Lumens: We believe the brightness or lumens rating is the most important factor in selecting the right projector for your event. The appropriate brightness level will be determined by the size of the screen or projection surface, the size of your audience, and the lighting and ambient light of the room. Typically for small groups of 20 or fewer people one of our smaller projectors in the 800 - 1300 lumen range will be appropriate. For larger audiences consider the 1300, 1600, or 2000 lumen models. For large groups, large screens, or high light conditions consider our 2000 lumen to 3300 lumen models. For very large venues ask us about the high power projector options that we have available.
